Installation guide
Additional Update
Boat Wings Installation
1. Clean the hull thoroughly
Use a suitable cleaner followed by rubbing alcohol to remove all dirt, grease, and residue.
2. Position the Boat Wings area
Decide where along the boat front to rear the wings will sit.
Keep it even and balanced.
3. Find the waterline
Ensure the boat is floating with no one onboard then mark the natural waterline along the hull.
4. Mark the bottom track line
Starting from the rear of the boat(Stern) measure 40mm(1.6 inches) up from the waterline.
Draw a straight line - this is the bottom of the lower track.
5. Mark the top track line
From the bottom track line, measure 120mm(4.7 inches) up and mark a second line.
6. Reduce top track line height at nose
Toward the front/Bow of the boat (last ~1m/40 inches), reduce this gap to ~105mm(4.1 inches).
7. Prepare the sail tracks
Lightly sand the back of the sail tracks and clean with rubbing alcohol.
8. Prepare the hull surface
Lightly sand the install area on the hull surface and wipe clean again with alcohol.
9. Position tracks correctly
Ensure correct groove orientation.
The outer groove is used for the wing rope(Keder).
10. Start from the front(Bow)
Begin installation at the front(Bow) using the 1m long pieces first and work toward the rear(Stern).
11. Shape as you go
Slowly bend and mould the track to follow the hull.
Once you are happy with the shape, get ready to add the guide lugs.
12. Add blue guide lugs/spacers
Add blue lugs into the ends of the groves of the sail track.
13. Apply adhesive
Apply adhesive evenly to the back of the track.
Do not over-apply. A moderate amount is best.
14. Fit the sail track
Press firmly into place along your marked lines.
After installing the initial sail track, make sure to connect the next tracks using the blue guide lugs.
This will help to maintain the curvature of the track at the joins and to ensure the wing rope(Keder) will slide thorough smoothly.
15. Clean excess adhesive
Remove any excess adhesive neatly before it cures.
16. Strengthen the install (NEW)
Apply a thin, neat bead of glue along the outer edge of the sail track to further strengthen and seal the install.
17. Allow to cure
Leave for 7 days before installing the wings.
18. Push out blue lugs (NEW)
Once cured, remove or push out any temporary blue lugs.
19. Install internal strips (NEW)
Feed the thin strip of material into the internal track (top and bottom).
20. Fit the wings (NEW)
Have someone assist you.
Start from the front of the boat and feed the wings into the external sail tracks.
Ensure the bladder(inflatable tube) is inside and not twisted.
Slowly align all the way to the rear.
21. Inflate and test (NEW)
Inflate the wings and check alignment and fit.
If fitting isn’t right, you can deflate and adjust.
22. Final securing (NEW)
Once satisfied, install the provided stainless steel screws into the ends of sail track, by screwing directly into the rope/keder to lock everything in securely.
Key Notes
- Bottom track: 40mm above waterline
- Track spacing:
- 120 mm standard
- ~105 mm at bow (last 1m/40 inches)
- Install front → rear
- Use less glue than you think
- Clean install = strong install
